Well, it is Saturday again. Has been a reasonably productive week and the thesis is actually starting to look like a complete whole. Have to send through final draft to date on Friday to catch supervisor before he goes away for a couple of months. After this will hope to get full final draft through to co-supervisor for final check by end of following week.
The impending completion of the thesis is a rather strange feeling. It has hung over my head for a few years now. Seems like a long time since I started and then at other times it seems like quite recently that I first arrived in Melbourne to settle. Have been buried in it so deeply that I have been unable to see broader picture. Now that it is impending I am finally starting to look up and see ahead to what has to come. Will be happy to get it away and start spinning out some parts further. It does however raise the question about where the research will go once I am no longer anchored to the thesis. Time will tell.
The job hunt has continued as well. There are more coming available, but there is nothing that one can do to make it happen faster (unfortunately). Will continue with the slog and see what eventuates, something will have to happen sooner or later. Patience is a virtue…
Here is a rather interesting story. Will let you mull that one over. Here is a joke that I have been sitting on, seems appropriate. Is about NZ politics, but could apply almost anywhere it would seem (especially here).
How many politicians does it take to change a light bulb?
Five. One to change it, one to loudly condemn the member’s motivations for changing it, one to argue it’s the previous government’s fault it needed changing at all, one to carp about not using an eco-bulb and one to fall asleep during the debate.
Anyway, we are off for a walk soon. The day is overcast, but hoping that the showers will hold off. Will have to make a decision in a couple of minutes. Have both been looking forward to a nice long walk, but no point if it is going to rain.
Will also be able to respond to long overdue e-mails once the drafts of the thesis is completed. Have been incommunicado for some time (as the lack of blog posts illustrate), but am starting to emerge into the murky London light.
