No, I have not forgotten that I have a blog. No excuses from me though.
Things have been kicking along here in the last little while. Have sent through what I hope is the final draft of the thesis. Knowing the process and what I have written I think that there will be a little more to do. But it is almost there. This is my excuse for being such a rubbish correspondent in case anyone was wondering.
The job hunting has been moving along slowly. It truly is one of the most soul destroying processes ever devised. There are a reasonable number of positions popping up and I have been throwing my hat at a good number. It is a frustrating and tedious position to be in, and I am certainly not alone (apparently). It really is a matter of keep trying and hope for the best. Have started working on contacts, so will see what happens (not holding my breath unfortunately).
In the meantime I have been attempting to get my head straight over the last few days since the draft was sent through. Apart from applying for more (and more) jobs, this has involved planning the next bit of writing and what I will do with all this free time. Have a good amount of interview material, from the thesis and other project that I will filter into something for submission. Planning to make hay while the sun shines (it actually has been lately).
Petra and I also finished the Capital Ring on the weekend. It was an epic journey and at the end of it we were averaging 11miles in a go. Having finished we are now looking for other walks. One thing about London is that it is diverse, from the marshes of East London to the sprawling neighborhoods of Hendon (not that exciting). The benefit of doing a walk like that is you get a real sense of what London is all about and ideas about what to do and where to go when at a lose end. The partially efficient transport network also helps greatly.
Congratulations to Scott and Ashley on their wedding on the weekend. I wish I could have been there for it, but then I seem to be getting good at missing weddings and other important events.
That is about all that is going on here at the moment. I will endeavor to keep this blog more up to date in future, but will just have to see how that goes.
Squirrels certainly have gotten a bit larger since I was last in the UK – also much paler.
Congrats on being right at the very end of the marathon (or possibly even just past the finishing line?)
